How to Merge Tables From Floor Plans
Purpose
Use this tutorial when guests at separate tables need to be handled as one table group. After tables are merged, the POS shows the selected tables as one group on the floor plan and opens the combined table using the merged table names.
Before You Start
- You must have access to the floor plan.
- Select a floor plan, not a bar tabs plan. Table merge is only available on floor plans.
- Choose at least two tables to merge.
- If any selected table has payment already collected, do not merge it. The POS may stop the merge and show Can not merge in-progress tables.
- Check the Available and In Process filters if the tables you need are not visible.
Steps
-
Open the floor plan screen and select the correct floor plan tab, such as Garden, Main, or the restaurant's configured floor name.
- Tap the table merge icon in the top toolbar. It is the icon with two arrows joining together.
- Tap the first table to merge. The selected table changes color.
-
Tap each additional table that should be part of the same merged group. When two or more tables are selected, the Done button appears.
- Review the selected tables before saving. If a wrong table is selected, tap that table again to remove it from the selection.
- Tap Done.
- Wait for the success message. The POS shows Table merged when the merge is saved.
Expected Result
The selected tables are shown as one merged group on the floor plan. The merged table uses the selected table names together, such as R1,R2. If the merged group contains an in-process order, opening the merged table opens the active order for that table group.
Common Mistakes
- Only one table is selected: Select at least two tables. The merge cannot be completed with a single table.
- The merge button is missing: Confirm a floor plan is selected. The merge, split, transfer, and free table controls are hidden on bar tabs plans.
- The needed table is hidden: Turn off the Available or In Process filter, or switch to the correct floor plan tab.
- A wrong table was tapped: Tap that table again before pressing Done to remove it from the merge selection.
Common Questions
- Can I merge available tables? Yes. Available tables can be merged and will remain available until an order is started.
- Can I merge tables that already have orders? Yes, if the orders are still eligible. The POS blocks the merge when a selected order already has a paid amount.
- What happens to orders when in-process tables are merged? The merged table group opens as one combined table. When more than one order is involved, staff should verify the order details before sending more items or collecting payment.
- Can I merge bar tabs? No. Table merge is for floor plan tables only.
Notes
- Screenshots were captured from an iMin D1 device using the Garden floor plan. Floor plan names and table names may be different for each restaurant.
- The staged screenshot shows selected tables before pressing Done; no merge was saved while capturing the tutorial screenshots.
