How to Set Up Offer Banners

For managers who upload promotional images in Backoffice and POS staff who verify them on a tablet POS.

Purpose

Use offer banners to show promotional images in the banner area on the tablet POS login screen and, when enabled, as a full-screen display after the POS has been inactive.

Before You Start

Part 1: Configure Offer Banners in Backoffice

  1. Open Settings, find Offer Banners, and select it. Backoffice Settings page with Offer Banners highlighted
  2. Configure the banner images and timing options on the Offer Banners page. Review the option guide below before saving. Backoffice Offer Banners page with upload, status, timing, image, delete, Cancel, and Save options

    Step 2 Option Guide

    OptionWhat it doesUse and limitations
Click to Upload (5) Opens the file selector so you can add offer banner images. Upload no more than five images. Use 1920 × 1200 images of 1 MB or less. Images with a different shape may be scaled or cropped by the POS display. The page does not state which file formats are accepted, so use a format offered by the file selector.
Active / Inactive Turns the inactivity banner display on or off. Set it to Active when the logged-in tablet POS should open the full-screen banners after the configured idle time. Inactive prevents that idle screen from opening; it does not necessarily hide uploaded banners from the tablet login screen. Phone-sized POS, KDS, and kiosk screens do not use this inactivity setting in the same way.
Inactivity Time (in Seconds) Sets how long a logged-in tablet POS waits without staff interaction before opening the full-screen offer banners. This setting matters only while the banner feature is Active. It does not delay banners already shown on the login screen. Touching the POS closes the full-screen banner display. Use enough time to avoid interrupting normal order entry.
Interval Time (in Seconds) Sets how long a banner remains visible before the supported POS carousel moves to another image. The interval has no visible effect when only one image is uploaded. The POS may shuffle the image list, so upload order is not a guaranteed display order. Kiosk and some customer-facing displays can use separate banner behavior.
Uploaded image list Shows a thumbnail and filename for each image currently included. Review every thumbnail before saving. Clear, landscape images work best; small text can be difficult to read from a distance.
Trash icon Removes the image beside that icon from the pending banner list. Check the filename and thumbnail first. Select Save afterward to apply the removal.
Cancel Leaves the page without applying the current unsaved changes. Use this when the upload, deletion, or timing edits should be discarded.
Save Stores the current images, status, and timing values in Backoffice. Saving does not immediately refresh a POS that is already running. The SalsaPOS application must be fully restarted afterward.
  3. Select Save after reviewing all images and settings.

Mandatory: After saving any offer banner change in Backoffice, fully close and restart the SalsaPOS application on every affected POS device. The new images or timing settings are not ready for use until SalsaPOS restarts and loads the latest Backoffice data.

Part 2: Verify the Banner on POS

  1. Fully close SalsaPOS, open it again, and wait for the application to finish loading.
  2. On a tablet POS, remain on the login screen and confirm that an uploaded image appears in the banner area beside the PIN keypad. Tablet POS login screen showing an uploaded offer banner beside the PIN keypad
  3. If more than one image was uploaded, wait for the configured interval and confirm that the banner changes.
  4. If the setting is Active, sign in and leave the tablet untouched for the configured inactivity time. Confirm that the full-screen banner display opens, then touch the screen to return to the POS.

Expected Result

The uploaded offer images appear in the tablet POS login banner area. When the inactivity feature is Active, the logged-in tablet POS also opens the banners after the configured idle time.
